The WTA 125 Colina, the most important women’s tennis tournament in Chile, came to an end on 13 November. After a week of duels at the Hacienda Chicureo Club, the final match for the title went to the first seed of the draw, the Egyptian Mayar Sherif (n°50) after defeating the Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl (n°111) in 3-6 7-6(3) and 7-5 in a little more than three hours of play.
This way, the Egyptian number one won the second WTA title of her career in Colina, after the one she won at the 250 tournament in Parma, Italy, at the beginning of last October.
In doubles, the pair of Yana Sizikova (53rd in doubles) and Aldila Sutjiadi of Indonesia (51st in doubles) triumphed 6-1, 3-6, 10-7 over the duo of Mayar Sheriff (123rd in doubles) and Tamara Zidansek (52nd in doubles).
This tournament marked the end of a great week for women’s tennis in the country and set a precedent in the history of organising this type of event in Chile.
