The BBVA Open Internacional de Valencia returns once again, led by Anabel Medina and Tennium, bringing top-tier women’s tennis to the heart of Valencia from June 8 to 15, 2025, at the Sporting Club de Tenis. With up to $125,000 in prize money, the tournament has firmly established itself as the only WTA event in the history of the Valencian Community and one of the few taking place on Spanish soil.
The tournament’s founder and director, together with one of Europe’s leading sports organizations — responsible for major events such as the Davis Cup Finals, the Hamburg Open (ATP 500), the Argentina Open (ATP 250), the European Open (ATP 250), and the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó — are already working on finalizing the main draw.
This synergy, backed by BBVA as title sponsor, confirms the tournament’s solid presence on the WTA calendar and its ability to attract some of the best players on the international circuit to Valencia.
The tournament’s growth has also captured the interest of both national and international broadcasters. Quarterfinals, semifinals, and the final will be aired on Teledeporte and Tennis Channel, with additional deals currently being negotiated with other media outlets.
Tickets are already available through the official website https://openinternacionalvalencia.com. Entry will be free for the qualifying rounds on Sunday the 8th and Monday the 9th. Main draw ticket prices will range from €5 to €30. Full-event passes will be available with a 10% discount, and there will be multiple VIP and courtside seating options.
The event will continue to offer the complementary activities that have become its hallmark: the Under-16 tournament will return, providing visibility and opportunities for emerging talents, alongside solidarity initiatives in support of athletes with disabilities.
Environmental sustainability remains a key focus, as the tournament continues to lead globally as the first to fully offset its carbon footprint.
The BBVA Open Internacional de Valencia is supported by the Generalitat Valenciana, Diputació de València, Ajuntament de València, the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET), and a wide range of sponsors including BBVA (title sponsor), CamperDays, Glasol, Volvo, Monserrate Premium Home Agents, Arroz Dacsa, Abenet Soluciones, Iberdrola, Beronia, Melt Group, El Porteño, Ysabel Mora, Turia, Dunlop, Tennis Point, Agua NEA, and Global Omnium.
PRESENTATION AND WORDS OF SUPPORT
The official presentation for the 2025 edition took place at the terrace of the Sporting Club de Tenis, which will host the tournament for the fifth consecutive year, offering an exciting experience for both club members and the general public.
Anabel Medina announced a key sporting change: qualifying rounds will begin on Sunday to allow players who go far at Roland Garros or are performing well in ITF tournaments to join the main draw. She also confirmed that a percentage of ticket sales from openinternacionalvalencia.com will be donated to Caritas to support those affected by DANA.
She also emphasized the initiatives that make the tournament unique: “The U-14 tournament, the Blind Tennis exhibition, and our full carbon offset policy make us a benchmark event that thousands of people want to attend.”
José Manuel Mieres, Eastern Regional Director of BBVA, stated: “At BBVA, we believe in the potential of the Valencian Community. That’s why we support initiatives like the BBVA Open Internacional de Valencia. This tournament reflects the region’s commitment to sports and equality, and we are proud to be part of its growth and to contribute to the region’s economic, social, and cultural development.”
Joaquín Ríos, Executive Director at Tennium, highlighted: “We’re thrilled to continue with such a successful tournament — one that everyone wants to attend and that has a fantastic impact on both the city and the people who experience it.”
The president of the Sporting Club de Tenis, Miguel Selvi, added that members “look forward to the BBVA Open Internacional de Valencia all year long. They feel it’s their own, it’s part of their lives, and it’s become a source of pride.”
Paco Vicens, president of the Valencian Tennis Federation (FTCV), emphasized the importance “of having a tournament of this caliber that also includes grassroots sports, representing the culmination of the daily work done by clubs and institutions.”
Public institutional support was highlighted by the presence of Rocío Gil, Valencia City Council’s Councillor for Sports, Equality, and Education. She underlined “how the tournament aligns with the city’s values — supporting those affected by DANA this year, but also promoting women’s sport and encouraging young people to adopt healthy habits.”
Finally, the Director General of Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana, Luis Cervera, concluded by stating that “the tournament is part of a broader regional strategy in which the sports industry is playing an increasingly prominent role.”
