Nadia Podoroska confirmed her participation in the Argentina Open WTA 125K, which will take place between October 31 and November 7 at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club. It will mark the return of the top international circuit to Argentina after 34 years.
Speaking to the sports newspaper Olé, the Rosario native said: “I’m already excited about the fact that the tournament is held, and that women’s tennis is being talked about again in Argentina. It is something very important for women’s tennis in general. I am very happy that Martin (Jaite) and all his people have opted for women’s tennis. Obviously, I’m very excited to go, I’m going to participate, it’s confirmed. I hope to arrive in the best way, that there is a lot of fans, and that many people can enjoy it. And above all that, there can be many Argentines in the draw”.
Regarding the development of women’s tennis in Argentina and in the region, Podoroska said: “That a WTA is made is something important.”
The event will distribute 115,000 dollars in prize money and the champion will obtain 160 points for the ranking. The Argentina Open will have a singles main draw of 32 players and 16 doubles pairs, and a classification of 8 tennis players in singles.
