Carlos Alcaraz becomes the youngest champion of the Argentina Open

The Argentinean public was able to enjoy the youngest No. 1 in history. He has left his mark on the Argentina Open by becoming the youngest ever champion.

Carlos Alcaraz, who has been sidelined since 4 November due to two injuries, has recovered and has proven it in Buenos Aires by winning his first title of the 2023 season. The seventh of his career and fifth on clay. 

At the post-title press conference, Alcaraz commented on his time at the Argentina Open. “It was a good week. I felt very good in terms of tennis, physically and mentally. I take a lot of positive things from this tournament”.

As for the public, the Spaniard said: “The Argentinean public is spectacular. I expected a good reception and it has exceeded it by far. The passion they have for tennis and sport is great. I’m going to take with me a very nice memory of Argentina”.

In doubles, Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini were proclaimed champions. The Italian duo defeated Pablo Barrientos and Ariel Behar 6-2, 6-4 to lift the title for the second time. 

Fognini and Bolelli were solid from the beginning of the tournament until the end and won the title without losing a set. The final was no exception. The Italians won, 10 years later and for the second time, the Argentina Open trophy.
