Holger Rune confirmed his participation in the next edition of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó, which will be played from April 12 to 20 on the courts of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 and joins a very strong list with the already announced Carlos Alcaraz, Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev.
The 21-year-old Danish tennis player is one of the most promising players on the ATP circuit (he was once ranked number 4). “Rune is a player I like a lot. He has a very direct style of tennis that has led him to win important titles despite his youth,” said David Ferrer, the tournament’s sports director. The Dane has four titles to his name, including the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris, and reached the finals in Rome and Monte Carlo, both on clay. In addition, last week he won the Davis Cup tie against Serbia with Denmark and will face Spain in the next round in September.
“He is a player with a great future and I see him with clear options to win Grand Slam titles like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have already done,” said Ferrer about a tennis player who has proven to be special and who at 18 years old has already managed to enter the Top-100 of the ATP ranking. “We are very excited to have him in Barcelona and I am sure he will make the public enjoy it. Being able to see him live is a unique opportunity and people will remember it.” Tickets to see him play can be purchased through the tournament’s official website (www.barcelonaopenbancsabadell.com), but the tickets are being sold very fast.
