Alycia Parks won the first WTA tournament in the history of Andorra. The US player beat Rebecca Peterson in a great final that ended 6-1, 6-4.
Parks was extremely happy after the victory “I want to thank everyone who came to the tournament and everyone who made it possible, from the organisation to the sponsors and everyone involved”.
In doubles, Cristina Busca and Weronika Falkowska were proclaimed doubles champions, beating Gabueva and Zakharova. They wanted to show their gratitude to the fans and “the support and good atmosphere throughout the tournament”.
In this way, the first women’s tournament in the history of the country has been carried out with top class clashes and a great list of players who have stepped on the courts of the Polideportiu d’Andorra for the first time.
The Crèdit Andorrà Open also featured a parallel Under-14 tournament for Andorran youngsters at the Polideportiu d’Andorra and Joan Alay. This was held to create a showcase for Andorran tennis at grassroots level.
