The BBVA Open Internacional Valencia Tournament, under the guidance of Anabel Medina and Tennium, will bring the best women’s tennis to the capital of the Turia from September 12 to 19. It will be host at the Sporting Club de Tenis. It will have prizes of up to $80,000 for its participants, which makes it the second most important women’s tournament in Spain.
This synergy between Anabel and Tennium, with the support of BBVA as the main sponsor, seeks to consolidate the ITF circuit with an international vision and aims to enter the WTA category in the future.
All the agents involved in the event were present at the launch press conference, in which the tennis player from Torrent said she was ‘very excited, to be honest. When I created a women’s ITF tournament in Valencia six years ago, I did it with the idea that it would be a long-term project, and today this growth is confirmed’.
Along the same lines, Joaquín Rios, CEO of Tennium, emphasized its commitment ‘once again to the future of women’s tennis. After signing our first WTA in Argentina for 2021, we could not be more satisfied with adding this second women’s tournament to our list of projects. We are also pleased to be able to carry out this great project with Anabel Medina, one of the most relevant faces of women’s tennis in Spain. After finishing the Conde de Godó Trophy, preparing for this new BBVA Open Internacional de Valencia is a challenge that we are looking forward to’.
Tennium, Global Tennis Platform, proudly announces the signing of the young and talented player, Holger Rune.
Born in Copenhagen, Holger, who has just turned eighteen, is an outstanding tennis promise with some incredible achievements under his belt. Rune conquered the Junior French Open 2019 when he was only sixteen years old. He also won the ITF Junior Finals the same year which, among other achievements, got him to the number one position of the ITF Ranking in 2019, a position that he currently still holds.
His accomplishments on the ATP Tour are also as admirable. Currently, ranked 310 of the ATP Ranking, he is the second-youngest player under eighteen. Over the latest months, the Danish player has beat two top 100 players, he has qualified for the Chile ATP 250 Open where he defeated second-seeded of the tournament, Benoit Paire, and reached the quarterfinals.
His latest milestones on the ATP Tour was at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, an ATP 500 where he went through the qualifiers and lost against Albert Ramos-Viñolas in a really tight game where the Spanish player won in the third set 7-6.
Tennium, couldn’t be happier with the incorporation of Holger Rune to its players management business. He is the latest addition to a long list of players the company has recruited. The vision of the company is to work closely together with players in their development and growth as junior all the way through their professional careers. Philippe Weiss, director and players agent of the company, will be the manager of the Danish player.
