McEnroe, Noah & Wilander, the best tennis of all times in Marbella

Marbella, 10th of June, 2016 – The American John McEnroe, the Frenchman Yannick Noah and the Swedish player Mats Wilander will all be the biggest stars of the Senior Masters Cup, which takes place from 22nd to 24th of September at the Puente Romano Tennis Club, in the heart of Spain’s most glamorous seaside Golden Mile Town, Marbella. To complete the list of participants with these three illustrious names will be added Albert Costa, Sebastian Grosjean and Younes Al Aynaoui.
“To have the presence again of these three legends of world tennis is a privilege for us. The Senior Masters Cup is born with the hope of settling in Marbella and become one of the most important social and sporting events of the city, “said Albert Costa, the tournament director.
The cast of players is headed by the tennis showman number one, John McEnroe, who will find strong competition against the talented and charismatic Yannick Noah expert in making the audience enjoy with his jokes, and Mats Wilander, a great clay professional. They all have great memories of Marbella and so they commented during Roland Garros last week.
McEnroe was in Paris as TV commentator and had a moment to remember when passing through Marbella many years ago. “I’m excited to again have the opportunity to play in Marbella. I have been many times to Puente Romano and each of those visits has been a mixture of great tennis, good weather, great food and lots of atmosphere, so it is surely worth going back to play in Marbella, “said John McEnroe.
For the Frenchman Yannick Noah this experience it is not new either. The current Davis Cup captain of the French team played the Roland Garros Senior Cup and spared no praise. “I love being able to play and meet my friends on the circuit. Marbella has always known how to treat us so it took me only one minute to say yes. I’ll be there in September, “said the 1983 Roland Garros champion.
The Swede Mats Wilander winner of seven Grand Slams (three Roland Garros, three Opens of Australia and one US Open), maintains himself with a very high level of tennis and his competitive streak is as alive as ever. “I keep playing regularly and I’m looking forward to returning to Marbella. I know the city and its people, and I love them, so I’m sure we’re going to have a great time.” said Mats Wilander from Roland Garros last week, where he was working as a commentator for Eurosport.
